An Interesting Day in South Africa Politics before the 2014 Elections
Cape Town - DA leader Helen Zille has announced that Agang
SA leader Mamphela Ramphele will stand as the DA's presidential candidate in
the 2014 general election.
The DA and Agang SA made the announcement at a Cape Town
hotel on Tuesday morning.
DA leader Helen Zille said she was happy to announce that
Ramphele "has accepted the DA's invitation to stand as our presidential
candidate in the 2014 general election".
"We've come a long way together," she said, adding
this is a "game-changing moment for South Africa".
Ramphele said she was "honoured" to accept the
invitation extended by the Democratic Alliance to stand as its presidential
candidate. "I believe this decision is in the best interests of South
Africa," she said.
Earlier, DA federal chairperson Wilmot James said the axis
of South African politics will shift. "On this day we are redefining the
way in which politics will be conducted in South Africa."
Johannesburg - Former president Thabo Mbeki might return to
Parliament as an MP if certain branches of the ANC in Gauteng have their way.
Mbeki’s name appeared on the province’s list of 200
candidates for the National Assembly, The Star reported.
The newspaper said the list was filled with names of people
said to be President Jacob Zuma’s political rivals.
Gauteng also
nominated Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe to be an MP.
Members of Mbeki Cabinet – former public works minister
Thoko Didiza and former provincial and local government minister Sydney
Mufamadi - also made the list.
The ANC’s national list conference is due to start in Irene,
south of Pretoria on Monday.

EVERYDAY OBJECTS MADE MUCH MORE FUN!
Instagram continues to pave the way for innovative artists like graphic designer Javier Pérez, who regularly adds to his playful series entitled Instagram Experiments. Using a variety of everyday objects combined with simple line drawings, the Ecuador-based artist constructs whimsical scenes in all shapes and sizes.
From a still life of lungs to adventures in spaghetti rain, Pérez finds ways to bring life to all kinds of static objects. His imagination leads to many inventive creatures and characters and, through just a few quick pen strokes, he transforms small, unexpected food, flowers, gadgets, and tools into lively and expressive artworks. His cheerful collection, which will certainly make you smile, is the artist's way of reminding us that "we [all] have an inner child who wants to have fun and play."
Man proposes to his girlfriend by writing a children’s book about him proposing
The Story
There once was a gorilla
That fell for a giraffe.
She surprised him by how much
She could make him laugh.
The two, you see,
Were from different worlds
Their first date, so nervous,
He’d certainly hurl.
In spite of their differences,
It was love at first sight.
His feelings grew quickly,
His heart took to flight.
The gorilla, his life,
Unpolished and scattered
Now refined and focused
On those things that matter.
There were simply no words
For how lucky he’d gotten.
Without her by his side
Life would surely be rotten.
It’s hard to believe
Just how happy they were.
He could not imagine
Even one day without her.
So he got on one knee
And uttered the plea:
“My dearest giraffe,
Will you marry me?”
He felt his heart beating
Right out of his chest.
He could do nothing but wait
And hope she’d say YES.
When she finally answered
He could not stop grinning
Because he knew, in his heart,
This was just The Beginning!
She said yes.
